Pacific Seacraft Sailing Symposium Schedule.  

All seminars and gatherings are to be held at the Washington Civic Center.

Saturday: October 31

8:00  REGISTRATION

8:30  WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION

9:00  SAFETY - DEALING WITH EMERGENCIES -  Wade Dale 

Learn about current safety and emergency products and their proper implementation prior to needing them in a true emergency situation.  Discussion of proper use of  PFDs (They only work if you wear them) EPIRBs, Man Overboard Systems and Liferafts.  Actual deployment of liferaft (on land).

10:30  ENGINES, SPARES AND MAINTENANCE  -  Frank Smith

General discussion and question and answer session.  Please come prepared with specific questions to make this a really meaningful experience.

12:00 LUNCH At Civic Center - catered by Mimi's Cafe.

1:30  FIRST AID ON THE WATER -  Jeff Burton

Jeff will be discussing the fundamentals of basic first aid for the marine environment in addition to some advanced stabilization/rescue skills.  During the presentation, you will learn to integrate easily obtained materials for an adequate first aid kit and learn what a more extensive offshore kit should include.

3:00  SAILS AND SAIL TRIM FOR CRUISING BOATS - Jerry Latell

Proper sail trim makes your cruising safer and more comfortable and extends the life of your sails.  Learn to maximize performance and to sail safely and in control in a variety of wind and sea conditions. Learn trimming techniques to power-up, de-power or reef your sails as conditions warrant.  Learn to tack and gybe safely and efficiently.

5:00  MAKE CRUISING A FAMILY EVENT -  George Day

Whether you are sailing around the world -- like the Day family -- or sailing around the bay, the cruising life is best when it is a family affair.

6:00  DINNER AND SOCIAL  -  at Civic Center
